Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to some common questions below. If something isn’t covered, you’re very welcome to contact me at contact@turnthepagetherapy.co.uk or use the form at the bottom of the page.
What happens in the free 30-minute consultation?
It’s a relaxed, no-pressure conversation. We’ll talk about what you’d like help with, how I work, and whether working together feels like a good fit. There’s no obligation to book ongoing sessions.
Do I need to prepare anything for the free consultation?
No. You don’t need to prepare or bring anything specific. We’ll simply talk about what’s brought you here and what you’re hoping for. You can share as much or as little as feels comfortable.
What if I feel nervous or don’t know what to say?
That’s completely normal. You don’t need to have the right words or a clear plan — we can take things slowly and figure it out together.
Is online therapy confidential?
Yes. Sessions take place in a secure online therapy room, and confidentiality is an important part of the work.
How often would sessions be?
Most people choose weekly or fortnightly sessions, but this is something we can decide together based on what feels right for you.
What if I’m not sure you’re the right therapist for me?
That’s OK. Finding the right therapist matters. If it doesn’t feel like the right fit, I’ll always be honest and help you think about other options if helpful.
What happens if I decide to start therapy after the consultation?
If you decide you’d like to go ahead with therapy, I’ll talk you through the next steps. You’ll be sent a therapy agreement by email to read through before your first session, which we can also go over together if you have any questions. This helps make sure we both have a shared understanding of how the work will look and feel.
Will I be asked to sign a contract?
Yes. Before starting ongoing therapy, you’ll be sent a therapy agreement by email. This outlines things like confidentiality, boundaries, and cancellations. It’s there to support the work and keep things clear and safe. We can talk through this together if anything feels unclear.
What does the first paid session look like?
The first session is a chance to begin settling into the work together. We may talk more about what’s bringing you to therapy, what you’re hoping for, and any goals you’d like to work towards. There’s no pressure to cover everything at once — we’ll take things at a pace that feels right for you.
Can I contact you between sessions?
You’re welcome to contact me by email for practical matters such as scheduling or cancellations. I don’t usually offer therapeutic support outside of sessions, and emails aren’t monitored continuously, so replies may not be immediate. If something feels urgent or you need immediate support, I’ll help you think about appropriate alternatives.
How long does therapy last?
There isn’t a set length for therapy. Some people come for a shorter period, others work over a longer time, and many choose to take breaks along the way. We’ll review things together and decide what feels most helpful for you at different points.
You’re always in control of how long you stay in therapy.
What if I want to take a break or end therapy?
That’s completely OK — and in many cases, it can be a really helpful part of the process.
I often encourage people to take breaks in therapy so there’s time to notice what’s shifted, practise what we’ve explored, and see how things land in everyday life before moving on to the next piece of work. Therapy doesn’t have to be continuous to be effective.
Whether you’d like to pause, slow things down, or bring therapy to an end, this is always your choice. Where possible, I encourage us to talk about it together so the work can come to a thoughtful and supportive pause or ending.
How do payments work?
You’ll be sent a secure online payment link when you book your session. Payment is required in full at least 48 hours before your session.
If you prefer to pay by bank transfer, details can be provided by emailing contact@turnthepagetherapy.co.uk.
What is your cancellation policy?
I understand that life happens — people get unwell, plans change, and unexpected things come up. I aim to be fair and understanding, while also holding clear boundaries around the time I set aside for sessions.
- If you cancel with more than 48 hours’ notice, there is no charge.
- If you cancel within 48 hours of your session, a 50% fee may be charged unless you reschedule and attend another session within the same week.
- If you cancel within 24 hours of your session, or do not attend, the full session fee may be charged.
These charges reflect the fact that short-notice cancellations make it difficult to offer the session time to someone else.
That said, I do take individual circumstances into account. If you are generally reliable and a late cancellation is a genuine one-off (for example due to illness), I may choose not to apply the fee. Ultimately, I reserve the right to apply this policy on a case-by-case basis.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, I always encourage you to get in touch as soon as possible.
